Adel Hamad at Guantanamo
Red
What kind of a weird war this is. People who are arrested for being terrorists and enemy combatants and plotting against America and freedom are able to get people to put up entire web sites trying to convince people that this person sitting in Guantanamo Bay isn’t really a terrorist at all, just some harmless person with a legitimate sounding cover story:
Adel Hamad was a teacher of elementary school orphans, a hospital worker, and someone who coordinated the delivery of food, medicine and blankets to refugees. He has been imprisoned for 5 years and classified as an enemy combatant, despite the lack of any allegations or evidence that he ever acted against the U.S. or its allies, or even had political sympathies for those who did. His friends and colleagues describe him as a funny, apolitical man who loved charity work and ping-pong. One of the U.S. Army Majors at his Tribunal called his detention unconscionable.
And you have quotes like this on their site:
Interviews with his employers, his colleagues, his brother-in-law, and his landlord all describe Adel Hamad as a family man with a good sense of humor, a man who never spoke of politics, who was not a radical or an extremist.
Well of course someone who was part of Al Qaeda wouldn’t want anyone else to know about it. And anyone who did know about it would be part of them also and wouldn’t go telling Americans that he was really a terrorist even after he got arrested. Why would they?
But there he is, sitting in jail at Guantanamo Bay, so obviously he’s guilty of something. What will they do with their web site when they find the evidence they need to put him away? They better shut it off fast before they get sent to Guantanamo also for supporting a terrorist like that.
